Apple recently revealed the winners of the 2023 Apple Design Awards at WWDC23, recognizing outstanding innovation and technical excellence in app and game design. The awards celebrated 12 exceptional apps and games that demonstrated remarkable technical achievements.
This year’s winners, representing development teams worldwide, showcased creative and innovative apps grounded in exceptional design principles across six categories. These categories honored apps and games for inclusivity, delight and fun, interaction, social impact, visuals and graphics, and innovation, with each winner selected from a pool of 36 finalists.

In the Inclusivity category, Universe — Website Builder by Universe Exploration Company and stitch. by Lykke Studios emerged as winners. Universe offers a user-friendly website building platform accessible to all, while stitch. introduces the meditative art of embroidery in a game format with customizable accessibility options.
For Delight and Fun, Duolingo by Duolingo, Inc. and Afterplace by Evan Kice were recognized. Duolingo continues to innovate language learning with engaging gamified experiences, while Afterplace offers a nostalgic pixel adventure game with modern twists.
Flighty by Flighty LLC and Railbound by Afterburn were awarded in the Interaction category for their intuitive interfaces and seamless controls tailored to their respective platforms, making travel navigation and puzzling gameplay enjoyable and engaging.
Headspace by Headspace and Endling by HandyGames were honored in the Social Impact category for their meaningful contributions to improving lives through mindfulness and environmental storytelling, respectively.
Visuals and Graphics winners Any Distance by Any Distance Inc. and Resident Evil Village by CAPCOM Co., Ltd. stood out for their stunning imagery, high-quality animations, and immersive visual experiences that captivate users.
SwingVision: A.I. Tennis App by SwingVision Inc. and MARVEL SNAP by Second Dinner received accolades in the Innovation category for their novel use of Apple technologies, providing state-of-the-art experiences in tennis coaching and collectible card gaming.
These award-winning apps and games highlight the evolving landscape of interactive and educational platforms, reflecting a growing trend towards inclusivity, engagement, and innovation in the digital realm.
