Oliver “Doolittle” Lynn Jr., the late husband of country music legend Loretta Lynn, is set to receive a posthumous military honor for his service during World War II. Known affectionately as “Doo,” Lynn’s husband will be recognized in a ceremony to be held this week in Washington, D.C.
Lynn’s team shared the news on social media, posting photos of Doo as a young man and alongside his wife. Lynn’s granddaughter Beth will attend the WWII Ranger Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony to honor Doo, who served as a WWII Ranger in E Company, 5th Ranger Battalion.
Doo passed away in 1996 at the age of 69, after being married to Loretta Lynn for 48 years. Lynn, who passed away in 2022, often spoke proudly of her husband’s military service.
