Charles Leonard Johnston, a Sapper in the 3 Anti-Tank Regiment during World War II, served in Tobruk, El Alamein, and Crete from 1940 to 1945. His brother, Hugh Alfred Johnston, a Private in the 2/2 AA Workshop, fought in Papua New Guinea from 1942 to 1946. Eric George Johnston, Hugh’s son, served in the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1972 as a Private in the 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment.
